Dinner No. 3 : COMING SOON!
Written by Carmen Villadar
Monday, 23 March 2009

Four months has passed since our last Frankfurt Girl Geek Dinner . We've had lots of emails from people asking when the next one will be and also wanting to be included in our mailing list. Thank you everyone for your enquiries and your enthusiasm will not be in vain.

In fact, the planning committee is underway brainstorming for the 3rd installation of the Frankfurt Girl Geek Dinner. Initially planned to coincide with the arrival of spring, we were lucky to have held it off. It was such a cold day for the 1st day of spring that it wouldn't have served appropriately for the surprises that were going to be presented.

What we will tell you for now is this: the theme will be "Spring is for Startups".

Stay tuned for more information on the exact date, time and place.

Thank you everyone for being so patient.

Frankfurt Girl Geek Dinner No. 2 Recap
Written by Carmen Villadar
Monday, 23 March 2009

Indeed! The Frankfurt Girl Geek Dinner #2 came and went. December 8, 2008 was a long time ago and the fact that I am only posting the recap in Spring of 2009 just goes to show how very busy Girl Geeks are!

We HAVE managed to stay in touch with our distinguished guests but we would also like to take this opportunity to show our deepest gratitude for all those that did attend. Without them, the dinner would not have been as successful as it was.

We had a partnership presentation on Freelancing, by Tapio Liller and Delphine Ménard. This tandem presentation gave the audience a peek into the challenges and adventures that both Tapio and Delphine had encountered when deciding to go 'solo', so to speak. There were a number of freelancers/entrepreneurs in the crowd and many shared interesting insights and experiences with their own journey.

One interesting feature of this particular Girl Geek Dinner was that the event was also livestreamed into the virtual world presence of Twitter (in the Twitter Café) in Second Life . Not only was there a live audience attending the event in Frankfurt, Germany - but there were also people inside Second Life that were from different parts of the world that were able to sit in the Twitter Café in Second Life and view the real life event, LIVE via a video screen inworld. It is our wish to share all the Frankfurt Girl Geek Dinner events via livestreaming into the global platform of Second Life.

We all know that a picture paints a thousand words so here's a couple of thousand words to commemorate the December evening.
